George Parkhurst, Abigail's great-grandfather, came to America with his children George Junior and Phoebe and settled in Watertown. Here he purchased a housestall of 12 acres and owned five other lots of land. His son, George Junior, was born in England about 1618 and died in Watertown 16 March 1698/9. A on 16 December 1643 George Junior married Sarah Browne, daughter of Abraham and Lydia Browne. Sarah Browne Parkhurst died before September 1650.
John Parkhurst, son of George Junior and Sarah Browne Parkhurst, was born in June 1644 and died 12 September 1725. John, a soldier in King Philips war, was admitted a Freeman in 1690. John Parkhurst married Abigail Garfield about 1670.88
