MAD DOG NEAR BRUNO
Late Thursday afternoon Mrs. Velma Harris of the Black School neighborhood was bitten in the wrist and shoulder while she was playing with their dog. The dog then bit three head of cattle for her husband, Mr. Will Harris and left, headed toward Bruno.
Over the telephone Mr. Harris warned people that his dog had gone mad.
That night the dog circled in and around Bruno fighting and biting every dog he met. Van Pope and Bob Heath had dogs bitten that they killed the next morning.
Friday morning the mad dog was located and pursued in an auto by Lon Atkins, Stevey Terrel, Van Pope and Sam Thurman. Three miles from Bruno on the Everton road, the dog was overtaken and killed.
The dog’s head has been shipped to the State Board of Health for examination.
