Ithaca, N.Y., died Sept. 6 from injuries suffered in an auto accident Sept. 1. She was born in 1908 in Beatrice and graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1929. She taught school in South
Dakota. After her marriage to Albert Johnson in 1930, they settled in Crete. The family moved to Ithaca, N.Y., in 1953. She received a master's degree in English literature from Cornell University in 1955 and taught in Ithaca Public Schools until her retirement. Her husband died in 1988.
She was a pilot, horseman and canoeist, and planted over 50,000 trees with her husband. She was active in The Nature Conservancy, The New York Forest Owners Association, The Cornell University Library Associates, Herbert F. ,Johnson Museum of Art, League of Women Voters, Senior Citizens, and P.E.0. She was a member of the Ithaca Monthly Meeting of Society of Friends.
She is survived by her four children, Carolyn Grigorov, Ithaca, N.Y.; Albert L. Johnson of Detroit, Francis A. Johnson of Northampton, Mass., and Katherine 0. Johnson of Ann Arbor, Mich.; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchil'dren. Memorials may be made to the American Friends Service Committee, 1501 Cherry Street, Philadelphia, Pa., 19102.
