The records of Bledsoe Co Tn show that on Dec 5 1833, Eli Thurman deeded a farm and town lot to William B. Whiteside “for advancement of life, he having married my daughter Nancy.” There were no children born to this union, nor after some years was it a happy marriage. Nancy returned to her father’s home, in Bledsoe Co, and met a tragic death in October, 1848. It is possible she was killed by an axe blow to the head by a family slave. After her death, most of the family left Bledsoe Co.
