I EDMUND MOORECROFTE of Virginia, merchant, being weake in body give vnto my sister Anne Thurmer £20 to buy her a piece of plate; vnto John Thurmer the younger twoe heifers; vnto Elizabeth Thurmer my god-daughter twoe heifers; and vnto Joan Thurmer the younger a heifer and a bull calfe, the latter to be exchanged as the stocke increaseth. I appoint my executors my sisters Elisabeth and Marie Morecrofte, who shall enioy all the goods belonging vnto me in Virginia or England. I do desire my brother in lawe John Thurmer, and Robert Hatt and Cornelius LloideWater's Gleanings, I, 85.* to administer uppon my estate here in Virginia in the behalfe of my sisters, and to send the produce thereof into England for their accompt, and alsoe to take an accompt of Mr William Thomson of what shalbe due to me either in the ffowerths or in seavenths, and to deliver the same to my sisters as aforesaid. I give vnto my brother John Thurmer for his paines £30, and to Robert Houlde £10. My will is that Mr Jeremie Blackman and William Church doe make sale of all such goods as are in the stores belonging to my marchants or any other Adventurers. Dated 18 Dec., 1638, "in Virginia." Witnesses: Nich: Stallinge, Richard Handson, John Webb.
Proved 20 June, 1639, by Elizabeth Morecrofte, sister of deceased and one of the executrices, power reserved to Mary Morecrofte the other. (P.C.C. Harvey, 102.)
