William Eyre, Reverend, born in 1613. He became a batler of Magdalen Hall in 1629, and was the Rector of St. Edmunds, Salisbury, and the author of ‘Vindicia Justifications’. As a member of a family associated with the Parliamentarian Party, he was also associated with the Independents. he was commissioner of Wilts for the ejection of such that were called "Scandalalous and ignorant and insufficient ministers". He lost his position when Charles II was restored to power, and retired to Melksham where he died. Burial was 30 January 1669.
