Roy Johnson', born at Alpha, August 23, 1875; attended school at Crete until he graduated from the high school in 1893, then attended the University of Nebraska, at Lincoln, during 1894 and 1895; then worked in the machine shops at Wymore until he enlisted at Omaha, July 22,1898; was corporal in Captain Webber's Company H, Second United States Volunteer Engineers, and died of typhoid fever at Camp Mead, near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, September 25, 1898, and is buried in the Crete cemetery.
