Miss Mary Elizabeth Friend, aged 74, of Swanton, died at the home of her niece, Mrs. Edward W. Shaw, at Keyser, W. Va., on Sunday morning, February 6. Miss Friend had gone to Keyser about three weeks ago for a visit. A daughter of the late Andrew G. and Mahala Friend, she was born at Brownsville, Md., January 14, 1870. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Jerry Sweitzer, of LaVale. The deceased was a sister-in-law of Mrs.. J. G. Friend, Swanton; Mrs. Laura M. Friend, Swanton; and Mrs. A. H. Friend, of Aberdeen. She was a member of the United Brethren church. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Swanton Methodist church, with Rev. J. C. Foster, pastor of the U. B. church of Loch Lynn officiating. Interment was in the cemetery at Swanton.
