Living in Kensington, London, aged 17, in 1881 census, with stepmother and step-siblings. Married John Gerald Ritchie (1853-1921) of the Indian Civil Service in 1885. Not found in 1891 census – in Calcutta until c.1896. At Brighton, Sussex (as Amy Ritchie, aged 37), in 1901 census. Lived in Chelsea. Death registered in Paddington, June quarter 1928, aged 74. Daughters:
• Theo, died of peritonitis at sea, May 1896.
• Dr Margaret Angela (‘Peggy’) Ritchie (1896-1983). Birth registered Hambledon, Surrey, December quarter of 1896. in At Brighton in 1901 census. Married Mr Dominick Spring-Rice (1888-1940), company director and financial writer, as his second wife, 1936. Married 2ndly, as his third wife, Professor Hugh Owen Meredith (1878-1964), in 1957. Died at ‘Larkbeare’, Cumnor, the former home of her aunt Anne Wynne Thackeray.151
