George Walter Steers FOX LAKE - George Walter "Wally" Steers, 89, of Fox Lake, died on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at Victorian Village, Fox Lake. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 11 a.m., at the Annunciation Catholic Church, Fox Lake. The Rev. Donald Brain will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Memorial Park, Fox Lake. Wally was born on Aug. 3, 1914, in Markesan, the son of George and Susan (McIntyre) Steers. On Oct. 15, 1937, he married Rose to Rennick at the Catholic parish in Brandon. Wally and Rose moved to the Fox Lake area in 1948 and moved to the city of Fox Lake in 1988. Wally was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church for many years, the church's council and cemetery board. He farmed until retiring in 1988; worked for many years at Jansen Hardware in Fox Lake and Green Giant for many years. He was an insurance agent for the Town of Westphalia Insurance Co. for 20 years. Steiner Bus Co. was active in the American Forest Conservation Board and served as a board member of the town of Fox Lake. He will be sadly missed and grieved by two sons, Ron Walter Steers, Green Bay, and Gary (Dolores) Steers, Columbus; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gene, in infancy; his wife, Rose, Oct. 25, 2000, and one brother, Harry. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 6, from 10 a.m., until the time of service at Annunciation Catholic Church, Fox Lake. The Kratz-Semendia Funeral Home, Fox Lake, is serving the family.
