I got your newsletter yesterday, and realized that you may need this
information, sad though it is. My mom was very courageous and heroic- never
complained, and died at home, surrounded by family, peacefully, in the
presence of the Holy Spirit.

Mary L. Hassett
KINGSVILLE- Mary L. Hassett, 62, of Creamer Road, died Monday, July 16,
2001, at her home after a long battle with cancer.
She was born April 7, 1939, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Dr. Ernest F. and
Lois M. (Johnson) Lindenmayer and has been an area resident most of her life
except from 1987 to 1998 when she lived in Fort Myers, Fla.
She attended Baldwin Wallace College earning an associate degree in medical
secretarial science in 1959. In 1976 she attended Kent State University
Ashtabula Branch earning as associate degree in nursing and became a
registered nurse.
In 1987 she and her husband moved to Cape Coral, Fla., where they bought a
small manufacturing company, The Tropix Marble Co. She also worked in the
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers. She
also worked at Molded Fiber Glass as a plant nurse in Ashtabula.
She was a member of the East Side Presbyterian Church where she sang in the
choir; was a member of PEO Chapter DV of Ashtabula; the Occupational Health
Nurses Association; the Ashtabula Safety Council and the Ohio Safety Council
where she had been a secretary; she was a member of the Southwest Florida
Symphony Society; the Ashtabula Arts Center; past member of the Ashtabula
Women's Service League; past member of the Redbrook Boat Club and she had
also participated in the Green Door Follies in Ashtabula.
She enjoyed playing the piano and harp, sewing, reading, sailing and
spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, James R. Hassett; a son, Sean W. Hassett of
Cape Coral, Fla.; two daughters, Cynthia Ann Dunne of Kingsville and
Patricia Lin Eickhoff of Akron; seven granddaughters, Shea and Shawn Dunne;
Shelly, Shannon, Holly and Heidi Hassett; and Kate Eickhoff; three brothers,
Ernest F. of Sarasota, Fla., Martin J. of Columbus; and Stephen A.
Lindenmayer of Braunsweig, Germany; and a sister, Lorelei Ann Lindenmayer of
San Jose, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Lawrence Lindenmayer
in 1965.
Funeral was 11 a.m. July 19 at the East Side Presbyterian Church, 3440
Edgewood Dr., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Shane Nanney officiating. Burial will
be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Saybrook Township.
Calling hours were July 18 at the Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 Prospect
Road, Ashtabula, with a PEO sisterhood service at 8:45 p.m.
