Mary was born at West Bend, WI, is in the 1870 West Bend census, lived in Minnesota, then Sibley, IA, then moved to Sioux City, IA and lived in the household of her uncle (?), Capt. R. J. Chase in 1880.604
In 1870 Helena, age 10, is listed under Jacob and (Maria) Mary. In 1880, neither Helena nor Mary are listed under Jacob and Maria (Mary) but Mary, age 18, is listed in Sioux City under Ransom J. Chase. Also, in 1900 Jacob and Maria (Mary) are listed with 10 children, 8 alive. Mary (or Helena) are needed to list 8 live children.
So this is mostly why I think Helena, in the 1870 census of West Bend, is most likely to be Mary, who married W. E. Tackaberry.
