The Mrs. Benedict who was “one of mother’s sisters” is Edith, wife of Ezra. I haven’t researched this family in depth yet, but Ezra’s brother, Isaac, came to Iowa to help start a Quaker colony there. He says they got a team to String Prairie. The only mention I’ve ever found of that place is in early records of the RLDS Church as they had a branch there later on. This area in Lee Co., Iowa is directly across the Mississippi River from Nauvoo, Illinois, the center for the LDS movement in those early days.
