Admitted as Freeman, 13 May 1640, in Watertown, Middlesex, Massachusetts.
52Thomas Arnold, age 30, came to America on the ship, Plain Jane, during May 1635. He was fined at least twice, in 1651 and 1655, for church related offenses while he was a resident of Watertown, Massachusetts. He was probably a Baptist. Thomas moved to Providence, Rhode Island where he was admitted a freeman of that colony on May 18, 1658. He had earlier been a free man, with the right to vote, of the Bay colony. By October 17, 1661, he was a planter of Providence when he and Phebe sold land in Watertown to John Whitney. On October 20, 1662 they sold their Watertown house, barn, etc., to John Wincolll and were still “of Providence”. He was a deputy (colony government representative) in 1670.
