Anders (Andrew) Friend was born 1659. His first wife was probably a daughter of Israel Helm.
LDS Batch/File No. 1760725 lists birth date as 1661 in Frederick County, Maryland. U. S., Maryland (as of 1992) page 4,693.

On December 14, 1683 Andrew (Anders Nelson) Friend was appointed Tax Collector of Chester, Pennsylvania (formerly Upland).

Up until 1693, and for a period thereafter, Anders split his time between Chester County and West Jersey, where he was taxed for 200 acres in Andrew Robeson's "New Stockholm" tract in 1687,

On March 16, 1687 Andrew Nelson, Alias Friend, was indicted.

Andrew was again appointed Tax Collector in October, 1689.

On September 3, 1690 Andrew and his brother Johannes (John) were indicted for killing and taking away on August 6, 1690 a hog or hogs from Peter or Woola Dalbo.

Anders moved to New Castle County, Delaware in 1693.

By 1697, Anders Nilsson alias Friend had moved to New Castle County. In 1710 he was residing with his son Israel Friend near Harper's Ferry, Virginia. His children, aside from Israel, included Charles, Rebecca and Maria. In 1724, his wife was named Isabel.

Andrew Friend died in Maryland after 1740, and had at least four children, including Israel Friend, well-known Indian trader and interpreter. 434
